inspiration Jasper Johns

Jasper Johns

One of my favorite painters. He was raised in the south and upon moving to NYC in 1954 became the lover of Robert Rauschenberg. I love him so much because of how textural his paintings are. This comes from the method he employs to make them, encaustic painting. In this technique pigments are added to hot wax which is then either applied to wood or canvas. This results in amazing texture you could not achieve with paint alone. Here are a few of my favorite works of his.

#BlogeverydayinMay

Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

I honestly don't know what direction to take this. So multiple brief apologies it is.

1. I'm sorry to all who know me for my pregnancy brain and unexplained mood swings sometimes.
2. I'm sorry to anyone ever who's ever been offended by some crazy right wing Christian. Jesus was all about love not hate, so on behalf of them I'm terribly sorry,
3. I'm sorry to those who drive on the road at the same time as me. I will get mad at you for going to slow, not signaling, etc. But this does not mean I hate you.
4. I'm crazy emotional about things I care about, so I'm sorry for crying in front of you if you thought our conversation was going to be simple.
5. I'm sorry that all I can talk about lately is baby stuff, it's sort of a big deal.

until tomorrow.
have a great day.

#BlogeverydayinMay Day 12

Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

As happy as I am to have moved on and be in this new stage of life there is one that I miss. There was a year where me and my two best friends lived in the same town and spent almost every moment together. We carried around our huge DSLRs and photographed everything. We laughed, stayed over at each others apartments, took stupid photos, and just had a great time together.

Now we live hours and hours apart, but when we do get to see each other its the best.

love you both.
